Other Lessons
The club
has a series of fly tying lessons offered for beginners and intermediate tiers. Advanced tiers share the
favorite patterns and techniques. Rod building lessons have been held on an irregular basis, whenever
a group of members have expressed an interest.
Club Picnic
An annual
Fall picnic is held at the casting pools. The entire family is welcome and encouraged to join in the festivities.
Newletter
The club
has a bulletin that provides tournament schedules, results of the most recent tournaments, club announcements, fishing and
fly tying advice and articles of interest. The tournament schedule is also available to the public (see Schedule) to encourage other ACA club members to join us for competition.
Conservation
Most club
activities focus on casting education and instruction. We believe our efforts in this direction support sport fishing, thus
contributing to environmental awareness and active conservation on the part of the membership. But the Oakland Casting Club
supports environmental conservation, encourages members to become involved in conservation groups and facilities and takes
pride in financially supporting the following conservation organizations:
